KIM EDMUNDS
Kim came on her first safari to Kenya in 1986 in her early 20's. As a biologist specializing in the natural behavior of wildlife, she was completely hooked! She went home, quit her job, sold all of her belongings and moved to Kenya permanently 3 months later!
For the first two years in Africa, Kim lived in the famous Masia Mara Game Reserve working as a wildlife guide and naturalist at a permanent tented camp. She took tourists on game drives and lectured on wildlife conservation, animal behavior and local tribal people.
Kim’s stay in the Masai Mara also launched a career as a wildlife consultant for numerous BBC Natural History Unit documentaries. She guided cameramen and film crews when they were based in the Masai Mara. The highlight was working with Sir David Attenborough when he came to Kenya to film one of his famous series The Private Life of Plants.
She was appointed as a naturalist/behaviorist in the Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). She accompanied visitors to see the endangered mountain gorillas on a daily basis and lectured on gorilla behavior and ecology of the local area.
Kim is one of the few female safari guides in Kenya and has 40 years of safari experience. She loves organizing safaris and sharing her passion and wealth of knowledge with visitors from all over the world.
