OUR ORIGIN STORY
In her mid 20’s, Christine found herself in East Africa alongside friend, Phil Osborne – travel guru, conservationist, and philanthropist. With Phil’s vision, they co-founded and pioneered a new safari model – custom designed, intimate, and off-the-chart safaris to private homes and tented camps in the bush. Over time, they watched this new revolutionary safari model deepen the travelers’ experience while directly funding and supporting those doing the important conservation work, saving and protecting the precious wildlife. The legacy of Phil’s desire and determination to support these homeowners helps the last remaining wildlife of Kenya continue to thrive. This safari model offers an alternative to the crowded lodges in the national parks and reserves.
Today, The Portal is the continuation of that vision, connecting the traveler to a more meaningful and deeply immersed safari experience. Our goal is to deliver expansive and intentional experiences, custom crafted to exceed expectations (with some surprises), while honoring your investment of time and travel dollars.
